Kickstart 2025: Simple Exercises for a Meaningful New Year

2025 is just around the corner!

If you’re looking for a few ways to prepare, we have you covered. Our own CEO and founder, Amanda Prochaska, has used the following simple exercises to prepare for the new year. She is busy, and we know you are too. These exercises are quick and designed to help you meaningfully prepare without taking forever. Enjoy!

Find Your Emotionally Connected Why

Everyone struggles to stick with new goals or New Year’s resolutions. Often, the issue isn’t with the goal itself but with the mindset you had when you selected those goals and resolutions.

You need to connect with your goal on a deeper level if you want it to stick. Often, the first ideas we have when setting goals are more logical, but emotions are what will pull you through the times when pursuing your goals feels tiring or illogical.

For this reason, the first thing to do as you prepare your goals for the new year is to get to the root of your goals. You need to reach the most connected and deep parts of yourself that want more for your life. How do you do this?

All you need to do is ask yourself: “Why do you do what you do?”

However, asking this just once isn’t enough.

Ask yourself this question seven times. Just try it. By the time you get to your seventh answer, you will have cut through all the surface-level reasoning and aligned what you do each day with what is truly important.

Write Your Eulogy

In Donald Miller’s book Hero on a Mission, he encourages readers to write their eulogy now.

This is not as morbid as it may sound. Rather, the purpose of this exercise is to reflect on the legacy you want to leave. How will people remember you and the life you lived? These are great questions to consider sooner rather than later.

As you write your eulogy, consider the following:

  • Where am I going?
  • What truly matters to me?
  • Who am I doing all of this for?
  • How do I want to be remembered?

We only have limited time on this planet. Don’t miss the chance to reflect on the legacy you will leave behind.

Clear the Clouds

Once you have goals and resolutions in place, identify what has stopped you in the past. This is where many of us stumble—letting old patterns, distractions, or fears hold us back.

Before the new year even begins, take action. Show your brain that you are paving this course and nothing is going to stop you. Recognize your potential pitfalls and take steps to fill them in now. Need help staying on track? Create a system—even a simple one—to keep you accountable. Think of it as clearing away the clouds so the path forward is bright and visible.

Bonus: Celebrate Your Wins

The end of the year isn’t just for setting goals—it’s also a time to celebrate the progress you’ve made. Take a moment to reflect on your successes, both big and small. What did you accomplish this year that you’re proud of? Acknowledging your wins will give you a boost of confidence as you move into the new year.
